My husband and I are always talking about moving from NJ for a change. We are so tired of our high taxes and the constant rat race of keeping up with the Jones. I'm also finding people ruder & ruder each day. My husband has his own business and he would be able to move. I would be ready to do it but at the same time not knowing anyone really scares me. What happens if we end up hating it? Here, I have some of my family so it is so scary for me but again I am just sick of this whole area. We also have a 5 yr old and a 9 yr. old and I know they would be upset. My husband does not care about that. He thinks it's good to meet new people. Has anyone does this and how was your experience? (By the way, we drove thru this town in the summer, Crofton, MD and it was such a cute and friendly town. We really liked it, but we would consider other areas as well).

I did exactly that. I was born and raised in NJ, and always hated it. I'm very weather oriented. I need sun, and a lot of it. I thought Az would suit the bill. But that was actually more sun, people, and pollution than I had bargained for. Tried the west coast, and that was horrid. Too many negatives.
I settled in Colorado, and have never regretted it. It's a beautiful state. The people are great, and the weather is gorgeous. Winters seem shorter, summers seem longer.....Not at all what most people think....At least not this part of the state. The air is cleaner. I've seen sunrise, sunsets, and rainbows that I never witnessed in NJ. My hunt was done via vacations. And I had 3 young children at the time. I would NEVER return to NJ.
However, it does depend on what exactly you're seeking. It's not really WHERE one lives, as much as HOW one lives. Best Wishes to you and your family!

Me and my wife got married back in 1990 and had moved to florida (bushnell), and found out that this small town sucked as far as work was concerned, after living in hell for several months we decided to move to San Diego, California and love it here, we've been here ever since and probably stay here until we die hopefully of old age. We sometimes miss N.J., but would never want to move back there, for one thing the cops would never leave me alone they were asses most of them, their no better here from what I listen to on the news but all and all they suck where ever you live most of them there are some nice ones, California is great alot to see and do!...
