I know that masturbation itself is not directly referred to as a sin. I think it does have positive health aspects that outweigh the negative aspects.

I have tried to stop masturbating several times, but I have come to realize that it is almost impossible, and in fact it is not necessary to quit.

However, masturbation typically involves pornography, fantasizing, and lust (which is a sin).

How do I keep unclean thoughts out of my head when masturbating? Is it effective? I just think it would be awkward to be thinking about flowers or homework while masturbating.

So. Advice? Suggestions? Personal Experiences? I am very eager to read. Thanks! =)

No masturbation is not mentioned in the Bible.
I think it is better to masturbate then destroy some girls life with an unwanted baby and a relationship you do not want only for sex. You can really overcome pornography by having too much of it. I once ended up by accident on a nude beach. After about 30 min. it was all so normal it was not attractive. Once you have seen all the ******* and tittys and sex and everything there is you soon realize it is all so normal and crazzy that you will want relationship sex which is more of the real thing.
I grew up on the farm. Sex is normal but pornography is only animal sex no love or relationship to it. You will get sick of it in the end and realize that you don't want that.
In regards to masturbation focus on the virtual not the real or it will lead you asray.

Wow, that's a tough one.

I guess you have to consider why porn and lust are considered sinful. I always thought they objectify women (and men)...that is, they render a human being into no more than an object for your own gratification.

That being said, I doubt it's sinful to masturbate while thinking about being with an actual person with thoughts and feelings. Maybe fantasize about what sex will be like when you finally meet the one, how gratifying and fulfulling and sensual it will be? I dunno, that's just how I would approach it if I had your particular morals.

Considering the fact that you are gratifying yourself with masturbation, I doubt you will be able to keep the unclean thoughts out of your head.

So what unsinful ways can you deal with sexual release? Think about marriage. That's been the proscribed religious answer.

Firstly understand this, an erect penis has no conscience therefore any thoughts that enter your mind during masturbation don't constitute a sin as sin is an act against righteousness. Also remember God is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent so he knows all your thoughts and actions before you do, He allows them.

Try to focus on the pleasure you're experiencing. How it feels. Explore different textures and grips to change your sensation instead of focusing on the lust part. www.jackinworld.com has a lot of different techniques that focus on this rather than the porn/fantasy aspect.

I'm not sure you can completely seperate the two. But if that's what you want to do, more power to you.

Priests and nuns masturbate. As long as its not compulsive or self abusing you are ok. There are some arguments that therapeutic semen release is actually healthy for the prostate.
