there is a proposal for an LNG plant close to where I live, on the West Coast of BC. Other than 70 -80 jobs and the power it will supply, I see no good only bad. Bad environmentally and safety wise, it will look terrible on the coastline. Convince me otherwise!

1. Energy independence
2. Reduce dirty coal emissions
3. No energy brown-outs
4. Support local economy

We all use energy, unfortunately not many of us recognize the environmental impact of our excessive consumption. LNG terminals have an excellent safety record and provide well paid, skilled, and long terms jobs.

Unfortunately this seems to be a NIMBY (not in my back yard) complaint. As our energy demands grow, whcih seems to be relentless, more LNG plants will be required. The alternatives are coal, oil, nuclear, and hydro. Solar/wind/tidal energy have a place in the blend of tomorrow's energy supply, but the fact is these "green" sources simply can not provide enough energy on a steady "firm" basis.

Hope that helps!
