Hi Elaine!

The full moon happened Wednesday evening September 26th. The precise astronomical moment came at 3:46 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.

The next one will be on the evening of October 25th in North America and Europe (October 26 in Australia and New Zealand).

For about a day on each side of the official time of the full moon, you'll see the lunar disc as a complete circle of light. It takes that amount of time for the terminator, the ragged edge of the moon, to come back into view. The moon is brightest and most perfectly circular, though, on the night of the full moon itself.
