Hi King!

It's wonderful that you're taking so much interest in the moon and following it's nightly movements. I'm afraid that it has not been full for four straight nights, however, at least not in the way most people would consider a full moon, and it has not been superlatively bright.

The full moon happened Wednesday evening September 26th. For about a day on each side of the official time of the full moon, you could see the lunar disc as a complete circle of light. It takes that amount of time for the terminator, the ragged edge of the moon, to come back into view. Beyond that, you would see the ragged edge if you looked carefully. I did.

The moon is brightest and most perfectly circular, though, on the night of the full moon itself.

The full moon in late September always gets a lot of attention from the public because it's known as the Harvest Moon. Lots of people have heard the stories and the songs about it, and imagine that the Harvest Moon must be bigger, brighter and more romantic than a full moon at other times. It's not, however. It's just the full moon that happens to fall in late September.

The biggest and brightest moon of 2007, by the way, will be the October full moon, on the evening of October 25th in North America and Europe (October 26th in Australia and New Zealand). Known as the Hunter's Moon, at least in the Northern Hemisphere, the full moon that evening coincides with the time when the moon is closest to the earth. With the naked eye, you shouldn't notice any difference from this month's Harvest Moon unless you used a telescope and a sensitive light meter.

It's ok to have fun while your young but remember the drug runs through your system for days and even giving yourself a break for a day is not enough. If you like drinking pick one night a week to loosen up. If you can take it or leave it then just leave it. There is always time to drink later in life when you may really need it. Each person has only room for so many drinks, then you can't anymore so space them out more. 4 nights can put you under it's spell. The worst thing about it is it opens doors to other actions you would normally avoid or think hard about before doing.

It hasn't been full all 4 nights. It just looked like it.

The full moon nearest the fall equinox has traditionally been called the Harvest Moon. Due to the geometry of its orbit, it rises at almost exactly the same time for several consecutive nights.

It hasn't been "full". Strictly speaking, the moon is only full for an instant when it is directly in line with the sun and Earth. But it's almost full for some time before and sometime after, isn't it? So it is still very big, very bright, and looks close enough to circular to be mistaken for that.

Hi. The Moon is full for a very brief time (much less than a second) but appears NEARLY full for a few nights either side of actual 'Full'.

It wasn't full for 4 days, come on now. It's only round for about 1 day, maybe 2.

You can tell it's passed full when it rises after the sun sets.

Nothing going on. The moon is doing what it has done for 4 billion years. Go back to your computer games.
