All I can say is God have mercy on us, because there are no good candidates from either party. The only consistantly decent person seems to be Ron Paul, but I don't know if he has a chance because he's not in any corporate pockets and has no funds.
Both party's are looking bad. These candidates get scarier by the day. We need a miracle.

I think this is going to shock a large group of her supporters who are decidedly against war.

Refugio, does "learning to think for yourself" mean denying the news if someone votes a certain way or says a certain something significant? I think if you ignore the facts and stick with someone no matter what they do or say THAT'S the definition of not thinking for yourself.

I agree: her record speaks for itself. Actually she hasn't even really flip-flopped -- she's backed this illegal invasion from the word go.
Before the invasion was launched, UN weapons inspector Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), had conclusively exposed Bush's WMD lies. The media buried it, but Clinton could have screamed it from the roof-top.
Sure, it's scary when every 'official' party agrees with attacks on immigrants, the Patriot Act.
But if we face up to why this is happening, it's possible to mount a genuine struggle against it. From everything I've read over the last 6 years (and that includes daily reading of NYT and Washington Post as well as ongoing political and economic analysis on wsws.org) I'm convinced that there no longer exists in the American ruling elite any significant support for democratic rule.
Since both 'official' parties serve that 5% of the population that controls 50-60% of the wealth, it's hardly surprising that they have the same policies on every major issue.
The SEP will be running candidates in the next election. Read about what they're doing and decide whether or not this is a party you want to help build for the future.

You might have picked a more logical source to cite. Sanctions aren't exactly the same as dropping bombs. Also, if you were my age, you'd look askance at anybody's intelligence estimates on when somebody can produce a nuclear device. Other countries have routinely beaten the timelines of even the most pessimistic analysts.
In terms of Iraq, Mrs. Clinton seems to be proposing a troop reduction and withdrawal into enclaves for force protection, something of an updated blockhouse-and-rail system. That worked well in the Boer War, but failed miserably in Vietnam and in '03-'06 Iraq. She at least understands that premature withdrawal would be disastrous, but past that, I can't imagine what her thinking might be. Perhaps she wants to replicate our sterling successes in Lebanon and Somalia!?!

I don't really recall Hillary being anti-war either. Mostly due to the fact that the only accomplishments she has are aquiring power for herself. Granted she has done things that would be great to the average person, but nothing she has done would even trip the radar when a presidential level resume is required.

She's for the war, she's against the war, she's for the war, she's against the war. She's just playing both sides of the issue, hedging her bets as they say, because that's just Hillary - all things to all people.
Which way is the wind blowing today? Which side of my mouth should I speak out of today? How do I sound like I was for the war before I was against the war? What do the polls say I should say? These are the questions foremost on Hillary's mind.

Hillary is high comedy. She comes down squarely on both sides of every issue and who could ask for more than that? Surely you learned from Slick Willie that you move to the left for the nomination of the liberal party, then swing to center for the election....that and hope someone like H Ross Perot comes along to splinter the Republican vote. And hope Hollywood will let you come on the Tonight Show to portray how cool you look when you play the sax after you bomb with a dull, uninspiring speech at the convention, and hope the liberal media gets behind you.
It's tricky to be all things to all people, to agree completely with both polarized sides to every issue, to speak out of both sides of your mouth at the drop of a hat. Give the woman a break, she's got her hands full with this election thing. And this time her opponent isn't going to drop out of the race with colon cancer.

Hillary Flippety Flop,
She voted Yes,
She voted No,
She voted Yes again,
Then George Soros,
He told her off,
So she reverted back to NO.

Obviously you haven't been listening to Mike Richardson, but I would still rather take my chances with Clinton than any of the Republican candidates.
What I really don't get is that nothing she does is good enough for some people. If she is against the war she a traitor if she's for the war she's a war monger. Your missing the point. She is the best quailified most prepared non incumbant candiate in the last 50 years.

Next time listen to Hillary herself, rather than demagogues selectively quoting out of context. Your miracle will happen after Hillary gets elected. In the meantime, learn to think for yourself.
