You could talk about your common interest. What you like and don't. Or even past experiences you've all went through. Don't talk about something that even one of you doesn't know what the topic is all about, it makes the person feel uncomfortable which leads to breaking the conversation. Tell some funny jokes ones in a while to lighten up.

Talk about common experiences, funny moments, politics, movies, goals and plans for the future. Or ask silly questions. Ask each other deep and thought provoking questions. When you're with good friends,even the most boring, mundane topic can be discussed for hours! :)
