The outcome was obvious from the grandiose plans and expectations of the Bushies. To say we were going to greeted as liberators is ludicrous.
This is one more thing that W. can put on his resume; Failed Oil Baron, Failed Baseball Owner and lastly Failed Presidency. Only this time we all have to clean up the mess here and abroad.

Well, telling your enemy when you intend to surrender (sorry -- "withdraw") has got to be the stupidest possible tactic, anyway. Republican or Democrat, it makes no difference. In a situation of complex conflict like the one in Iraq, to do so (or even suggest it) doesn't save lives, but COSTS them as powers that would fill the vacuum you leave behind fight for position and influence -- not to mention harder against our troops who are there whether we like it or not. Does someone actually believe that we are dealing with some respectable well-governed folks over there who will just give us a breather when we say "King's X"???
You might have a look at my take on the war and occupation in Iraq-- which incidentally I think was and is necessary, as you can read in my response to another question in the link below. I'm a so-called "Liberal", by the way -- so my position in favor of the war might surprise you.

As for the various quotes in the article your link goes to: How to choose from any of these clowns running for President or even reporting about the war is enough to vote with my feet as I did the last time the country went collectively nuts the last time 30 years ago under Johnson and Nixon, when I went to France and didn't come back for twenty years. Save the sarcasm, you cat-callers out there: I came back to the United States in 1993 when my mother was diagnosed with metastatic cancer and was swept up into the pathetic health system here which eventually killed her after three years of bleeding every cent our entire family had -- not to mention leaving me marooned here in the bargain.

Everybody who thought about it knew. It's one thing to blow political hot air and give out silly slogans, but when it comes time to actually produce a workable plan, even the most boneheaded candidate has to do better than just "Bring the troops home"
What happens after you bring them home? 75% of the worlds oil comes from the middle east. If the whole region goes up in flames I would not want to be the one to explain to the world that you just wanted to bring the troops home.

What they are saying is that no one knows what can happen in the future. What if Iran attacks us? What if Bin Laden commits another act of terror? We will need troops in the Middle East to deal with those sorts of situations.
No one can promise you a peaceful future.

It is what I have been on record saying for about four years now.
Good to know others saw it, too. It is often very lonely being right!

All we've had since people drank the Reagan Kool-Aid are Republicrats, so why should it be a surprise that we're still in Iraq and Bush and Cheney are still unimpeached and unindicted?

I knew the occupation was supposed to be permanent. It is in the PNAC papers online.
Is that what you mean?

You seem surprised that they feel an obligation to clean up the mess that Bush made.
