Do you give thumbs down?

Question

Personally I don't, because it seems mean to me, especially on "opinion" questions. You gave your opinion and now I'm giving mine why would I give you a thumbs down just because I don't agree with what you had to say? Anyway just wondering your opinion.

I also stopped reporting for the same reason.

Hey I give thumbs down if someone is being hateful, but I mostly mean opinion questions.

I mean "super hateful", but usually no.

I do give thumbs down when I feel it is appropriate. The exception to that is when an opinion is asked for. Anybody that gives a thumbs down when an opinion is asked for is an idiot. Opinions are NEVER wrong.

Mostly, I'm the "thumbs up fairy." But I do give thumbs down to haters, Bush Cultists and people who answer without responding to--or even seeming to have read the question. And always to the Religious nuts for whom Jesus is the answer to every question, including math problems.

I don't mind in the least getting thumbs down. Whether or not people liked my answer is less important to me than the acknowledgement that they read it.

I don't usually give the Thumbs Down, but there are exceptions.

--I do it when people show up, like in the Mental Health or Psychology sections, and they clearly have *NO* clue at all whatsoever and just want to attack folks.

--And....I do it when answering political questions, since the rightwads and trolls are *already* going to Thumbs Down anything and *everything* that disagrees with their Fox News Dictated Agenda. It's like I have to there, just to shut them up.

But in fairness, even then I *try* to give out more Thumbs UP to folks than I do Thumbs Down, because in the end, the Thumbs UP are what counts in the Best Answer (more points).

I don't really like to give thumbs down either unless the answerer clearly isn't answering the question and is too busy putting someone down or being nasty.

I'm basically a thumbs UP person. Although I have given a few downers, the openly racist answers. The one who said something like, "I hate your stupid questions."

I give them to people that don't read the whole question and then waste other peoples time with an answer thats worthless.

if someone says i don't know i will cause if they don't know why answer the damn question also if they give a wrong answer or a rude answer i will. but not on an opinion question
