Yes they can.. Used to live in a highly populated area and I couldn't stand the noise anymore....after living there for most of my life I ended up buying 10 acres of desert and live there..the nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away and the the quiet is deafening..but I love it.

Sure. Happens all the time. I've got chronic depression & anxiety disorder, and one of my symptoms is sensitivity to sound. I don't go to Wal-Mart, at least not unescorted. I don't go to places with a lot chaos. I don't grocery shop over the weekend. My son has to practice clarinet sometimes in the car.

It sounds like it's a fairly rare occurrence with you. I remember when my kids were young being offended that I couldn't even escape into the bathroom.

Take care,

Well it is defined as Acousticophobia which means the fear of being anywhere with very loud or sometimes just noises. This is a common-ish fear and you should not feel bad about fearing noise.

It's called being OVERSTIMULATED! It can make you feel like running away or hiding in a quiet spot! I get that way at big family parties with loud music and everyone talking. Just remove yourself from any situation that makes you feel this way and you will feel much better! GOOD LUCK!

Amen Amen and Amen , Too much noise and it seems like the world is caving in on me. I must leave and find peace or else it seems I will lose all sanity.
