Before they had gas powered lawn mowers didn't they have those push mowers with the blades driven by the wheels?

Or sheep?

the lawn mower been around for a long time well before the electric one arrived.
before that they used scythes and long knives akin to the machette.
where no animals where used such as the cow & goat and other ruminants to chew away at the long grasses .

Lawn mower. well depends. before the lawn mower was this big metal thing you had to push around. the force of you pushing it moved the blades. (it was a terror lol)

before that we lived in tipis or didnt have houses there fore we didnt have lawns therefore it wasnt an objective (otherwords before that it didnt matter).

Check out the Amish for the answer. Other than that, people really didn't care for their lawn as they do today. That was the gaots and sheeps job!

I think most people probably didn't have grass in their yards back then. I like the scythe/sicle idea, I'm sure that's what they used when it got long enough.

They grazed sheep and cows? Any animal that eats grass!!

Or like they do in the bush, use a bush knife!!

Or is that now what you mean?

People used lawnmowers that they pushed with their hands (not automatic)
