I'm constantly irritated by liberals complaining about it, inarticulately by the way. They say it's taking away our freedom without saying which particular freedoms they're referring to. And if they do offer a specific it's typically wrong but they won't admit it. For example they'll say it lets government tap their phone calls -- which is untrue unless they're telephoning out of country to people on terrorist watch lists.

Well since I am not a terrorist, don't sell drugs and am not into child molestation (some of the other things the Patriot Act catches) I have not been affected.

On the other hand, the US has not been attacked and a couple of attempts were foiled because of the Patriot Act (Ft. Dix, Kennedy Airport).

Law abiding citizens have nothing to fear.

Edit: Note to John H

Really, the cops come banging on your door do they, perhaps you should evaluate your lifestyle. Exactly how long have you been hiding your kiddie porn? Is your real name Chester?
Here from your own stupid web site,

1. Eliminate the enemy.
2. Eliminate the enemy's reason to fight.
3. Eliminate the enemy's ability to fight.
4. Eliminate the enemy's will to fight.
The Patriot Act helps item 1 and item 3

You will never be elected as Senator, you lack strength and integrity. You complain about the VA Hospital, yet one of your very own liberals was the head of the group that is supposed to provide funding (Diane Feinstein).
Your support of stem cell research is sickening, no doubt you support partial birth abortion to do this. Partial birth abortion is when a baby that is nearly full term is partially delivered and then a hole is punctured into the babys skull and its brains sucked out of head.
Now I am sorry to hear about your mother but she had her life, this is something that an unborn child does not ever get to have. These same stem cells can be taken from the umbilical cord and recently scientists have found that they can be taken from the skin.
I would NEVER allow and innocent baby to die to cure any disease that I had even if I knew I was going to die.

How approximately freedom of speech? there are various freedom of speech matters contained in numerous forms of the Patriot Act, yet i will merely point out the only linked with national secure practices Letters (NSL). An NSL is a letter from the administrative branch demanding suggestions. those receiving the letter at the instant are not allowed to tell all people. this manner of unchecked power encourages all forms of abuse --think of an NSL requiring suggestions that would require extensive costs, probable even putting somebody out of enterprise. this could be used to reason concern for human beings making waves for the administration. The 4th modification protects us from unreasonable searches. Oversight by skill of the judicial branch utilising such issues as warrants assists in preserving the administrative branch in examine and abuse of power minimized. you won't be able to be plagued by skill of this actual concern yet, yet this represents yet another nail interior the coffin of our constitutional protections. some day you will awaken and not have any rights.

I work in real estate. I have to check the known terrorist data base for every person who buys or sells a home through us or refinances. It's annoying that I have to because no one with the last name Smith or Schroeder or Hanson ever shows up.

Also, everyone pretty much has to get a new birth certificate now with a raised seal. The older ones are no longer permitted, and you can't get a passport or anything else without the new birth certificate.

Plus, there's all the annoyingness at the airport. I thought my fiancee was going to get beaten because he was carrying Mountain Dew.

Among other things, the Patriot Act has forced me back into the political arena after nearly 35 years of just trying to make a living. This is causing no end of hassle in all parts of my life. But the fight must be fought.

"Knock, Knock"

Who's there?
"Police, open up."
"Do you have a warrant?"
"We don't need a warrant, sir. We're just checking the neighborhood for terrorists, illegal guns, explosives, drugs, illegal aliens, and prohibited pornography."
"According to the 4th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution you can't do this."
"If you have nothing to hide, you won't mind us searching."
Are you ready for this scenario?
Comming soon to a neighborhood near you.

It may have saved my life, personal or otherwise, by allowing the government to watch and listen to prospective terror suspects who carry on overseas contacts with other terror suspects. Unless, of course, you believe those shining examples of patriotism like Harry Reid or Splash Kennedy who are trying to make us believe that an evil CIA operative has tapped your phone in order to further investigate Aunt Claras' secret ingredients for pumpkin pie! You see, only Harry and Splash know there are actually 150 million CIA types out there, listening to the 150 million of us who aren't! Pretty slick, eh? Where ever would we be without those hyper-patriotic champions of the Constitution? (As long as it's a part of the Constitution they can somehow twist to fit their agenda-du-jour, that is.)

ever try to take a sleep apnea machine thru airport security? A labeled machine WITH a letter from the doctor with phone number to verify veracity. Still it gets taken apart and swabbed for 'inflammatory agents' and the carrier searched down to underpants.

Not at all, which is why I do NOT understand why people are always complaining about it. I don't see anywhere in the patriot act that should threaten anyone unless they have something to hide.
