Good question!
One of the most offensive elements of Socialist Medicine is how it transforms doctors into virtual state employees. The general practitioner who has spend decades building his practise will be forced to accept whatever patients the gov't says, and what fees he can (or can't) charge. This is an outrage.
Doctors are people who worked long and hard to pass medical school and build their practice. The gov't has no business interfereing.

If we get "universal" (AKA socialized) health care, the doctors won't be working for you or the government. They'll leave the government-run system (and thus put a worse strain on our health care system than we currently have) and open private clinics - which won't accept the government's health care plan, forcing us to have our own secondary insurance OR pay out of pocket for the procedures.
Which is exactly what happened in Canada, Europe, and Cuba.

The government, that is why it will take a long time to get service & the cost will skyrocket. The quality will go down. They wealthy will still get the best service, then the beurocrats. What ever is left over the masses will get.
Why will the best & brightest choose to invest the time to become a Doctor?

Gosh, the idea of socialized medicine is so scary!! Do we really want the government telling our doctors what and how they can treat us? Wake up people! It's another government-control trap!!!

They will all get jobs in research, why should they take a pay cut to practice medicine, then we will all have huge waiting lines to see what few doctors that remain. Those that do remain will be working for the insurance companies.
In Canada, it takes 17 weeks to see a doctor urgently, though you can take your dog to the vet and have him treated the same day.

the government...
instead of the HMO...
which sadly enough... I think the government is a step up... since we can actually vote them out... HMOs get bonuses for giving inferior care at a cut rate...
doctor's haven't worked for "you" since the 70s... unless you're independently wealthy...

Doctors? Ain't gonna be any doctors worth going to if we get socialized healthcare. I'm planning on staying healthy if we get saddled with that mess.
