Boys names on little girls can be cute, (think of Jordan, Sidney, Leslie etc... all former boy names) but I don't know if this one is ready for that transition... It can be used, but according to social security it is not in the top 1000 names for girls in the USA.
If you use it, consider the following:
-a girly middle name like Rose, Lily or Olivia
-Spelling it Garrette
Also, remember that the name you give your baby is the most important gift you will ever give her, because it lasts a life time. Chose a name that you would pick for yourself if you were starting life over today, knowing what you know about the world, your community, and your family.
Would you like the name Garrett for yourself? If not, consider these similar more feminine names:
Gardenia
Garnet
Garyn
or another ett name:
Scarlett
Brett
Arnett
Good luck finding the perfect name!

No, sorry, I can only see Garrett as a boys name. Doesn't sound right as a girl name to me.

Well, I know that names are really being switched around a lot now, but if you can picture it, see a young woman in her first year of high school, in her extremely carefully picked out attire, lip gloss and trying so hard to feel feminine and beautiful in the midst of killer wolves called "the crowd" answering to roll call to the name "Garrett" when the teacher goes down the list of names. What do you visualize?

It's not very pretty for a first name.
If it has a special meaning, how about use it as a middle name instead?
I think a femine first name, and "garrett" as a middle would be cute.
If you like the "boy" names for girls, try:
Cameron
Taylor
Devin
Kevyn
Austin
etc
You can make alot of "boy" names look cute for a girl=)
I hope this helped!!

I would not choose such a name, as the word means attic (room) , & garrotte means a method of strangulation (check your dictionary).........However if it has some special family significance........then go for it , so long as it blends nicely with the surname. I prefer names like ; Masie, Despina, Zoe, Adriana, Lucy..........Which are, exclusively feminine names. My wife dislikes her first name, which is also a male name, & uses her middle name instead.....Good luck, hope this helps!.

I don't care for it (for a boy or a girl, actually).
If you like the sound of Garrett for a girl, you could spell it differently (Garrette?) Or you could choose a more feminine name with similar sounds like Greta or Garnet (it's a gemstone, like Pearl or Opal.)

If you like the name you might wish to use it for her middle name. I wouldn't use it for her first name. It's a boys name that I haven't seen used as a girl's name, you could be the first to do it. But she may not like it when she gets older...
