Make sure you have a heat source. You do not want a heat rock or anything of the sort. Get an under-the-tank heater as well as a heat lamp for the best results. Place the undertank heater on one extreme side of the tank so he can choose to be cooler or warmer. Make sure to have a temperature gauge that you monitor periodically. And try to always have a basking area of 85-90 degrees. Feeding frozen mice is best for the snake. When you say "good bedding" make sure it is not any kind of wood shavings, these can cause respiratory infections. Indoor/outdoor carpet is best. Good luck, and enjoy him- ball pythons are alot of fun.

First off, you need to separate the ball pythons. It's stressful to keep two snakes in the same cage as they are solitary animals. Also if they are female and male, you'll end up with an early pregnancy that can kill the female. It's good that they are still eating. A 20 gl. tank is not very large anyway and will be very cramped pretty quickly if not already. If your cage is a screen top, it will be impossible to keep the humidity where it needs to be. You might have to cover half the screen or something. Humidity is all about water in the air, not on the ground. Wet substrate is bad and can lead to scale rot. Warm air temperatures are what converts water into vapor. Misting the cage will help this happen and keeping the temps up inside, whether with a heat lamp or under tank heater will help. Either one will need a thermostat to regulate the temperature. You should never run a heat source without something to control it. Substrate won't bother them as long as their scales are intact.

you will also need a lamp so u can provide the snake with heat from 6 to 8 hours a day, do not use a heat rock because the snake could get on top of the rock n burn it self. u will also need an extra tank or box so u can feed the snake in a different place other than where you're keeping it because if u give the snake food where it sleep then every time u open the cage to pet it it might mistake u with food and it might bite you.

Needs two hide holes. One on each side of the cage. That way it choose comfortable temperatures and still be able to hide. If you've got a nice big aquarium and have lighting and heating and humidity, you're set. ^.^
Make sure that cage top is SECURE.

Appropriate sized tank, secure lid, aspen shavings for substrate, 2 hides (one on either end), an under tank heat mat, a digital probe thermometer, a large enough water bowl to soak in, other decorations, a separate tub for feeding. Fave sites:
