A Boy. However...
Think ahead before you give your child the name of a cartoon vacuum cleaner super-hero (Kirby from The Brave Little Toaster):
At age 5, she/he'll be bombarded by other children as the butt of their jokes
At age 15, people will be avoiding taking Kirbster on dates
At age 25, when he/she goes to his/her first post-college job interview, will Kirby be taken seriously?
Didn't think so.
Sorry to burst your bubble. Even Scurvy sounds better than Kirby.

Kirby for a boy, and a related version, Kelby, for a girl. Kirby makes me think of Kirk, which is also better for a boy, so that's why!

Neither, really. Little pink guy always comes to mind. ;) Once I get past that, however, I have to say there's nothing at all feminine about the masculine name Kirby, so the gender choice seems obvious.
I do like Colby, for what it's worth. ;)
