if not, how come?
do you realize that when something goes wrong, (ex: item doesnt ring up, need a price check, item rings up at the wrong price, etc.) 90% of the time it's not the cashier's fault?

well i have cashiered and for there are good days and bad days. some days you'll get 90% grumpy customers who don't say a word to you, but some days you'll only get 10% grumpy customers.
the worst ones are though aren't the mean customers... they are the customers who won't get off their damn cell phones while going through the check out line!!

BABYLOVE: on the flipside, i completely understand your point! unfortunately i have seen a lot of cashiers do this, and whats even more unfortunate is the fact that far too often nothing is done about it.

i used to be one. allot . so yeah hardly any of it is their fault. that doesn't stop the people though who walk into the store in a bad mood and think," whose day can i ruin with my rudeness and impatience?" those are the ones i want to pepper spray.

Yes, I am nice to cashiers and anybody else that I encounter that provides a service for me -- gas attendant, waitress or waiter, receptionists, parking lot attendants, etc., etc.,
I try to treat everyone the same way I would like to be treated. Too many people take their frustrations out on the wrong person. As you mentioned, it isn't the fault of the cashier if there is a register problem. It isn't the fault of the waitress if your steak is not cooked correctly.
I find that the nicer I am to people, especially strangers, then the nicer they are to me in return.
And, even if I encounter someone that is providing a service to me and they don't seem to be in a good mood, I do not take it personally. We are all entitled to a bad day, or working when we feel sick or when something personal is weighing heavy on our minds.
I truly believe that "Being Nice Matters"!

I hate when people blame the cashier for something not ringing up right.. its not their fault! I had a job at a grocery store once and never again! Its the same in retail! So many rude people you have to deal with. I am always nice to the cashier, they are usually the rude ones <3

If something doesn't ring up right I just tell the cashier what it was suppose to be. I don't get mad. I feel sorry for some of the cashiers because I have seen people talk pretty badly to them. If they put theirselves in the cashiers shoes, maybe they would understand.

Yes I am because I used to be a cashier. I always try to hand them the money instead of laying the money on the counter. And if something goes wrong I try to work with them not get upset.

Usually I tend to be nice to everyone but I make mistakes. For the most part the cashiers are real nice and I usually don't have a problem with them I realize we all make mistakes even if we can't help making them..

Yes, especially if they're mean, because half of the time they realize you're a nice person and they were just having a bad day and they will act nicer and the other half they just get ticked off by your being nice.

I think that most (thinking) people would understand.
I'm sure there are some nasty people. Next time this happens and your waiting for your price check, try to imagine why these people are so emotionally ugly. If I were the boss I'd throw them out, there you go another thing to think about while waiting for the price check
GOD BLESS..

I try to be nice, but last week one fussed at me.She was talking to her friend, not me,and overcharged me on some pictures by $30.They were talking about their hookups from the night before, and yes I mean sex.The manager fixed it,but the girl could've cared less. She continued talking about sex, ect.,like I wasn't even there. This was in a store not her home.I was the customer, not her gal pal.I thought it was very rude.I was very nice about it,and said I think you overcharged me.Then she called the manager to get me my refund. Not once did she say she was sorry. What if my kids had been with me?

I'm always nice and courteous to cashiers, baggers, or anyone that works in a store. But you have to admit that sometimes you can run into some pretty nasty tempered people that works in stores to. But I always try kindness first.
