nis by itself on one side so now subtract 14 from both sides so equation is:
5n=-4+3
then combine to equation is 5n= -1
divide both sides by 5 and

14+5n = -4+17
1. Okay first you want to isolate the variable like you said, by putting all the numbers on the other side ( in this case it would be 14, -4 and 17). But before this, just to make things easier, you would add 4 and 17 (13). Then that leaves you with...
14+5n=13
2. From there to further isolate the variable you would have to bring the 14 to the other side by eliminating it on the left and then subtracting it from the right number (13), like so. (Do the opposite of the equation when transferring it to the other side, like here, the positive 14 would have to be flipped into a -14 to be brought over to the other side)
14+5n=13
-14 -14
Then you get...
5n= -1
3. Finally you can bring the 5 over to the -1 by dividing it...
n= -1/5
Then once you divide -1 by 5 you get your answer.
Hope this helps.

14 + 5n = -4 + 17
5n = -4 + 17 - 14 (because you took the 14 to the other side you make it negative {it used to be +14 so over = sign it's -14})
5n = 13 - 14 ( I got 13 from -4 + 17)
5n = -1
n = -1/5 (you took the 5 x something over the = sign so you make it -1/5
Hope it helped! Good luck

ok so 4=17=*? do that, and then subtract 14 from that number (*)(14 is the number with the variable, which you need to get rid of to isolate the variable). your equation looks like this 5n=* (the star is 4+17-14) then to figure out what one n is divide the * by 5 (the 5 n)

well you have to get rid of the 14 first so you would subtract that from both sides (remember you have to keep your equation =) then you have 5n=-1 because -4+17-14=-1
then you have to get rid of the 5 so you divide both sides by 5 and that leaves you with your answer (n=-1/5)

okay here we go
14+5n= -4 + 17 subtraction property
-14 -14 (subtract 14 so the 5n is on 1 side)
__________
5n= -18 + 17 < now you have this
_________
5n= -1
n= -1/5
YOUR ANSWER!
i hope that helped.

Umm... just subtract 14 from both sides and you should have the answer.
14-14+5n=(-4)+17-14
5n=(-4)+17-14
5n=(-1)
n=(-0.2)
