For instance if someone tells you how depressing or awlful thier life is, you feel depressed about it all day? Even though your life really isn't that bad?

Ms Crone, Being a Witch means you MUST learn to seperate yourself from those you wish to advise. It is one thing to sympathize with those you deal with everyday and quite another thing to TAKE on their problems into YOUR life. I always leave some time for myself after I've spent time with a depressed person for myself to decompress from that exposure. If it was TOO strong then I end up having to walk among the trees and fields to decompress from it. but I rarely allow my exposure to last long enough to affect me to that level. It's ALL a matter of self preservation.

Yes all my life :)) I feel for people it could even be a stranger I meet on the street! I feel that we must help people always and when our friends and family are need our help we should listen what I have learned is to not necessarily take on their burdens but just be supportive because we have as you know our own burdens to make ourselves depressed in life.. we can try and help another but ultimatley they are the ones to bring themselves out of their own darkness each soul has a journey in this life and I see the big picture then never before!! I will never turn my back in another in need but if they involve me too much in their lives and I get really upset angry and depressed and they keep doing th same things because they are spoiled or on the dark side of life there is not much I could do so I let them be but I will always be there hahaha giving them some taste of my reality in life hehe :)) Nice question thanks

Used to. Then I came to understand that other people need their burdens more than I do.

I do, but I'm not going to apologize for caring about how other people feel.
