FYI- if at all possible I would like to go to a big city and a place where it snows. Are there any in New York besides Julliard?

Look into the conservatory at SUNY Purchase. They've got vocal (jazz and classical/opera), instrumental, and a few different studio work/composition programs (Regina Spektor graduated from one of them a few years ago). Here's a direct link to the music program web page: http://www.purchase.edu/Departments/Admissions/areasofstudy/music.aspx

And it's only about 30 miles from Manhattan- about 35-55 minutes on the commuter train from White Plains (depending on if you get a local run or an express run).

Purchase, definatly. Its only a short train trip from the city too. I think a lot of people go to NYU for music too. Julliard is more classically trained stuff. Purchase is a little more 'open' I think. I almost went there but decided not to. Regina Spektor was actually the student who took me on a tour of the school! lol.

(Olivia I was going to post you some awesome indie bands you'd like on a previous post but it closed before i did :( )

In New York or the immediate area.

Julliard
Manhattan School of Music
Mannes
SUNY Purchase

In Philadelphia (a bit further south, but it still snows there)

Curtis
Temple University
The University of the Arts

In Baltimore (even yet still further south, but, it snows there too)

Peabody Conservatory (my Alma Matter).

These are highly competitive schools. Be prepared, and have fun...
