Corns and balls need no special lighting. I would recommend a cheap thermostat instead of a rheostat to regulate. Rheostats only have one setting ( you dial up or down as you think you need) and if the room heats or cools it doesn't adjust. Your temperatures may be too high, but the rheostat is set and doesn't turn off the heat. Thermostats will shut off the power to the heat if the temperature exceeds what you've set. Right now my snake room is warm enough that the thermostat rarely has to turn on the heat. The temperatures in the cages stay at or above the setting. During the winter though, they will work harder to keep the heat units where they should be when the room temperatures drop down.

Corn or BP only need UTH (good for you getting a rheostat!) at correct temps. Use a probe thermometer (digital) for accurate measurement.

Beardies need basking bulb (regular lightbulb in a dome reflector fine) at 100F at basking spot. A UVB reptile bulb also a must (don't forget to change it every 6 months).

i just use a standard heat lamp with a 60 watt reptile bulb it keeps the temperature about 80-85 where it needs to be
