Hi there. I'm 31 weeks pregnant, and for the last week or so I've been getting these shooting pains in/around my cervix. The pain only lasts a few seconds, but they stop me dead in my tracks everytime. It feels like someone is taking a fork and poking my cervix. Does anyone know what causes this and should I be concerned about it happening? Thanks!

Usually it is tendons and ligaments stretching. My friend said it felt like someone was dragging a fork inside her belly. Ouch

That would be your little ones arm or foot hitting your cervix. Fun isn't it?!?! I'm 35 weeks and my little girl has been breech for about 3 months so all I get are those sharp pains in my cervix because of her kicking. Sometimes I wonder how she doesn't kick right thru. Talk to your doc about the chances of your baby being in a breech position. Your still early enough that the baby could turn, but it's never to early to know and plan ahead. Good luck to you!!

sounds like Braxton Hicks contractions.... it means your body is trying to get the baby in positon for birth..... your baby is probably in a weird position and is trying to get turned around..... it is normal and try relaxing or sitting down to get it to stop, other wise you may need to the hospital.... if it stops with rest, then its B-R contractions, if not then its the real thing

its normal, but I hate them too!!! its just the slow process of your body getting ready for delivery.

I always imagined it was my baby sticking his fingers in there, trying to claw his way out!!!
