It does sound nice to do that right? Then she will sleep in the night, WRONG. Newborns need this sleep at least 20 hours a day to grow. They have so much to learn and this is when it all sinks in. Also, this will not help her sleep in the night, because you must remember that babies tummy is small and must eat every 2-3 hours. The sleep in the day is more important also. You need to let her sleep, she needs it to dvelop. Now, to stay awake only a while, sing to her, or talk to her and look in her eyes, but please just try not to keep her form sleeping, caise it is important for growth and development. She needs at least 18 to 20 hours in a 24 hour period. My bby would nurse, then sleep, then nurse, then sleep. That is all. Good luck.

You don't They sleep when they wanna sleep at this age. They need a lot of sleep, they do most of their growing in their sleep, and they have just gone through being in a nice encased, warm environment where they don't have to work to eat, or anything else like that. Your newborn is tuckered out just from eating, let them sleep.

You don't. You sleep when they sleep.,,,,really! It'll be weird for a while, but you will not be a zombie or a witch. Laundry and dishes can wait and hopefully you have a good husband to help you do those things or a dishwasher, but to keep your sanity for the first few months, YOU sleep when that baby sleeps. In a few months you can get him/her on a schedule, or they get you on one, but everything is new to them now, so to save your sanity, feed, cuddle and rock and then sleep when baby sleeps. Even a 2 hr nap is good for YOU. Life will smooth out in a few months. Babies on schedules do good. You just have to accept the first 2 yrs are all about them and keep them as close to a schedule as you can and forget your girlfriends who don't have babies and want to meet for lunch, etc. They'll understand when it's their time.

You don't. Let the baby sleep when he wants to. In time you can implement a routine but not a newborn.

you cannot change a newborns sleep routine. If your child cries doesn't sleep at nights and sleep during the whole day,you try sleeping when the child is asleep so you wouldn't have problems if the child wakes you up at night.

regular feedings will help normalize the metabolism, try for a schedule, but be super flexible, it's all about heading toward a goal when they are tiny and enjoying the journey the best you can. also, sleep when they sleep, at least some of the time, this will help you be a healthy mommy.
