I think I would be mad at my dad if he gave me to a crazed mob of men for them to use me any way they wanted because he did not want the "angels" to be molested.

Actually, after studying this story in depth, one can surmise that there were a lot of, what we consider, sexual perversions taking place in Sodom and Gomorrah.

1. Lot offered his daughters freely and willingly. Maybe this type of "pimping out" was not uncommon at all? The crowd of men were not shocked by his offer, it was just not what they were wanting.

2. All the men of the city came out to Lot's house. I guess gang raping new people in town was also a common occurrence. This would make a great horror flick, huh?

3. If you keep reading AFTER they left the city and the whole "pillar-of-salt" issue, you will see that Lot's daughters actually got their dad drunk on 2 separate nights in order to have sex with him so that they each would get pregnant. This leads me to believe that date rape and incest was so common that the kids would often initiate it.

Sodom and Gomorrah is most used as an example of God's hatred of Homosexuality. However, I have listed for you three really sick sexual perversions without even touching on the issue of homosexuality.

1. Child sexual abuse. (Although this is cultural and was actually practice world-wide through out history until the 20th century.)

2. Gang rape.

3. Date rape.

3. Incest.

These are just my thoughts.

Angry, horrified, terrified...you name the negative, they probably felt it!

This wouldn't have been "just" a rape, either. There was a mob outside the door. Those girls would have been DEAD by the time the men of Sodom were done with them! This would have been a human sacrifice of sorts, and all to save a few guests. Furthermore, their own brothers-in-law were in the crowd!

As a Christian, I'm not really impressed with Lot's familial skills. Then again, he wasn't living on Righteous Blvd, either. Lot CHOSE to settle his family in Sodom, and he CHOSE to stay there. How much will any man compromise his beliefs? Lot shows a scary answer to that question!

on the other hand when asked to find x number of good people in Sodom. the Lord's two angels only found one righteous person living in Sodom ...LOT
which means Lot's virgin daughters were Moraly like the rest of Sodoms's citizens.
which does a lot to explain their later relationship with dad.
