We were that great population hike at the end of the war when all those soldiers came home, women left the workplace, married those men and begat kids galourous. In England there was a baby slump because they lost more men but Americans came home to consumerism, and golden opportunities. So these were good times to raise families even though the new enemy was on the horizon. The "commies" were the looming threat that kept war alive for this country. So the "baby boom became the new bounty for the draft and other forms of suppression and flux that our country's fathers need to make money on...That military-industrial complex that everyone talks about now..It takes so much from each generation even you...

A baby boomer is a person born between 1946 and 1964 in Australia, United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. Following World War II, these countries experienced an unusual spike in birth rates, a phenomenon commonly known as the baby boom. The term is iconic and more properly capitalized as Baby Boomers. The terms "baby boomer" and "baby boom" along with others are also used in countries with demographics that did not mirror the sustained growth in American families over the same interval.

It was a time period about 1946 to 1964 when people had a lot of children. This was after World War II.The problem is that generation is getting ready to retire and there are not enough workers today to pay into their social security retirement plan. Yikes!

A baby boomer is the people who were born shortly after one of the world wars. (can't remember which one.) The soldiers came home, and were... well, really excited to see their wives, and lots of children were born shortly after.

Anyone of us who were born between 1951-1968, so called because it was standard to have four-five kids then, and with the prosperity of the 50s we bought everything in sight and the market for housing, toys, household gadgets and family entertainment "boomed" as well.
