I agree with all of the other answers. It is bad. Try developing a change up and a 2 seam fastball (a pitch that doesn't put any stress on your elbow). Also, work on location. Changing speeds and locating your pitches is the most important thing when pitching because hitting is about timing.

Yes it is bad on the arm for kids younger than 13 or 14. Little League Baseball is doing a study on it now to see if it should be illegal to throw one. It has to do with the bones being soft and the way the Ulna Nerve passes through the bone at the elbow. Causing problems and sometime damage to the elbow and shoulder joints. They study is being conducted at Duke or North Carolinas Medical department cant remember which one for sure. This was talked about back in April 2007 at our Little League Spring Meeting-------Im a 30 year Baseball Coach and Umpire for Little League in my state.

Yes it is. Most people typically begin experimenting with a curveball once they are teenagers. Although, if you play on the your High School team like I do, hell warn you to stay away from it until you're about 15ish and have awesome control. Our coach has told us we have 3 pitches lol. 4 seam, 2 seam, and a changeup.

depends on how young the kid is...
probly shouldn't even try throwing curves until about 11 or 12.
but after that... mix up your pitches, don't try to throw a curve every pitch because you'll mess up your shoulder.
