I just looked out of my window and I can hardly see across the street...then I heard the mournful sound of the fog horn from out in the harbor. What do you hear outside your window?

Total silence, looking out my window watching leaves fall, a gaggle of in formation canadian geese just arrived, had I been outside I could have heard them.

Oooh, that makes me think of the movie, "The Fog". A sci-fi
movie. I've seen both the original, and remake.
Well since I am just now answering, and it's much later
since you posted this I can only say what I see right now. And
that is that the sky is darkening a bit, and the clouds and blue
sky are still out there, and there's a slight breeze blowing the
branches of the Birch tree off the patio. And as for hearing, the TV news is on and I hear an occasional car driving by on
the street behind us. So that's all I hear right now.

Good gosh, how I envy you! I was just up in NY and had three great weeks of open windows, fresh air, and wonderful night sounds. Now that I'm back home in GA, the only sound I'm hearing is the air-conditioner running. Bummer! But like you, I live close to the ocean (and Savannah River) and know exactly what those fog horns sound like on a foggy night or morning. Mournful is the exact description. Have a great night...and enjoy those open windows. Hopefully we'll be able to do it down here soon!

I just arrived home not long ago...flung open the windows as the day is simply perfect! At present I hear the drone of the TV in the living room...the breeze coming through the windows in my sunroom where I sit tap tap tapping at the keyboard; a plane in the distance and the rustle of pine needles on the tree outside my window.

I hear the sounds of the cars on the freeway, my husband snoring in the next room and the clicking of the keys on my keyboard. During the day I hear the sounds of the freeway, birds eating the sunflower seeds just outside of the window and once in a while children playing in the neighbors yard.

I can hear a lovely silent night. The sky is clear and the moon is shining, although not as brightly as most nights.

The crickets are squeaking, which tells me it's summer again (well springtime), and the occasional car goes past.

It's warm, not too hot, and as I look out of my window I can just see the palm trees moving gently.

No dogs barking. just a nice balmy spring night.

A few early morning birds tuning up, a group of angry crows discussing who gets first dibs on the, urrrgh, whatever they've located out there in the woods, a hooty owl now and then...still dark hereabouts, so can't see what I'm hearing go 'rustle-rustle-rustle' out there. Best guess is deer.

That's not fair..I'm in the house. AC, tv, dogs tags clinking.( we have one dog who snores sometimes) If I were on the porch..which I will be in a few minutes..I'd hear the frogs "barking" or whatever they do...and the crickets..maybe the ducks quacking or splashing..the cats and dogs scratching or running on the porch...probably a car or 2 going by..sometimes racing....maybe the outside washing machine going ..or dryer...ac cutting off and on. (take the bad with the good) lol O..I forgot till I read hers..inside ...the fridge...and the clock....and TYPING TYPING TYPING !!! (Bet everybody forgot that one!) lol
