I like the name. I know someone called Khalil (pronounced ka-LEEL) - don't know why the "h" and "a" are transposed.

I can understand your hubby wanting to name your son after an athlete, my husband is the same way! lol
Kahlil is a cool name... it is arabic and means honorable comerade (ie good friend) so it has a nice meaning.
You don't seem to be a big fan, so I say don't go for it. There are tons of other names in the world, so don't settle! Remember, a baby's name is the most important birthday gift you will ever give him... cause it lasts the rest of his life!
Pick a name you both love.

I'm not sure, it could be pronounced different ways and sometimes that just causes the child difficulties in school. Maybe try it as a middle name and use something else as the first.

I don't like it at all. Too hard to pronounce and not very nice sounding anyway. That name would be silly on a resume someday.
