The coolest one I ever got was Don Drysdale. My dad and I went to a baseball card show at a local junior college and I brought Drysdale's autobiography to sign. The show was in the JC gym on the basketball court. The autograph session was on the side of the court. Drysdale came out of a side room where he had been meeting privately with the college baseball team and took me totally off guard. It was like, "Oh my God, it's Don Drysdale!!" He caught me gawking at him, smiled, and said hi. I somehow got my voice to say hello back and then when I got to him I handed him the book and he kindly said, "Do you want me to dedicate this to you?" I nodded. He asked, "Sure. What's your name?" And he wrote, "To (my name)...My Best Wishes, Don Drysdale." I thanked him profusely and walked away. He and Brett Butler were the kindest baseball players I've met.
I would never sell that book in a million years. I'd go bankrupt first. The day Big D died I was watching the Dodgers-Expos game and I took his book off the shelf and just stared at the autograph.

Luis Tiant signed about a dozen cards for me and the dear wife when he was coaching in the minors in, oh, 1995 I think.
Sold? No. But I've given away a few of them. I like getting autos from players but I don't really collect them and AFAICR I've only ever sold two of them, and those by request. Mainly I like the brief interaction with the players, try to say some nice comment or compliment to them.
