A baby is not property like a pet would be. A baby is a separate entity which the mother feeds through the placenta as it grows within the female body. The baby has all it parts and is a separate being with a separate personality and body. The child feeds through an umbilical cord, but the blood is separate and different from the mother's and does not mix or touch the mother's blood. If somehow by accident, the cord blood was to intermingle with the mother's blood it would attack the child's blood system. Consequently, possibly doing damage to the baby, as in the case of an RH positive baby within a an Rh negative mother. This can occur from the child having an RH positive father who impregananted an RH negative female resulting in conceiving an PH positive baby.
The blood does not cross from mother to child. It only passes from the umbilical cord which feeds from the placenta through the uterine wall. Most often the child will have the father's blood or a combination, but remember the mother's blood does not cross through to the child's body.
Can you grasp what I am telling you? The infant is a real human. It will not grow into a tomato----only a human child.
The only case in which someone belongs to another physically is through the bond of matrimony in which two become one like the Bible tells us. " The two become one flesh." Children are a gift from God and should be welcomed gladly.

yes and no
yes because the baby comes from a mothers egg (which was part of the woman) and the sperm (which was part of the man) the baby is made up of part of the woman's genetic make up (DNA) and part of the fathers there for being part of both parents. the child grows and develops into its own unique person that you take care off till they are able to physically, mentally, financially, and legally be able to take care of themselves. so no you don't own them.
the no is because the baby has its own body and all of the body parts that grow and develop separate from the mothers including its own blood. while the baby is in the woman it develops its own blood supply that takes nutrients from the mothers blood supply
( the placenta is a big filter that lets nutrients pass from mother to baby and lets the waste filter from baby to mother.
that is why babies and mothers can have different blood types)
Either way, if a baby is made both the mother and father should take care of it because it is part of both of them and is a blessing from God

A developing fetus cannot survive outside the pregnant woman's body. It is not only connected to her physically (via the umbilical cord), it depends on her blood to provide nourishment for it's growth and development. The placenta is physically attached to the wall of the uterus, the uterus of course being a part of the female body.

The baby becomes a guest in the woman's body, it is not exactly a direct part of the woman...the baby is created within the confines of the woman, it wasn't there to begin with. To say a baby is part of the womans body would be to say that she was born with child already conceived.

until it can survive on its own outside the womb, it's an organism living off the woman's body....in other words a parasite.

Many parents (both mothers and fathers) believe they own their children for the first 18 years. Sometimes, longer.

Well, from the moment she was conceived and until she was ready to enter this world my blood was running trough her veins, through my bloodstream she received oxygen and food. I provided for everything she is made of. Now, you tell me if after all that she was not a part of my body.

This is a tough one.
We argue that it's a separate life inside of us, but honestly, it's a body inside of ours attached to the umbilical cord relying on us for every need and unaware of any mistakes we make.
It's a part of our body. It functions with the rest of it. And yet...it's different, in only a way a family can understand.

To the extent that it cannot survive outside the womb, yes it is part of a woman's body. It's technically parasitic in nature, since a growing fetus will rob a woman of stored nutrients in bone, muscle, and fat if her diet is inadequate. I would not call it owning another person, since a fetus is not a person.
There will always be arguments over the exact moment when life begins. The law must provide for people of differing belief systems.
Nice try.

Even if the unborn fetus is considered a human being, it's inhabiting the woman's body, and a woman should be able to do what she wants with her body.. including anything that may be tresspassing within it.
