All you need to do is file with the courts. You must get a divorce decree to legally prove that you are divorced if you should ever want to marry again.

What R U waiting for? If u want a divorce, just file for divorce in the court in the county and state you were married in. If there are alot of assets that were AQUIRED during the marriage, then you best get an attorney to handle it.. You should get a settlement agreement drawn up specifying what is to be divided and all the rest. Then that will be entered into the judgement for divorce. Abandonment is a reason for divorce. Also most people just file a no fault divorce. Talk to an attorney as to the best way to file on this one..Good Luck..

Look in your telephone book's Yellow Pages for the Lawyer Referral Office for the state you live in, for example, The South Carolina Lawyer Referral Service. The first visit is often free, or at a minimum, $25. They will be able to help you. If you haven't been intimate with each other for a period of one year, you should have no problems obtaining a divorce by abandonment.

Wow...I am sorry that happened to you. People can do odd things. Certainly consult a lawyer right away. There will be no problem in getting the divorce - Or should not be - If you don't know where she is then it may be able to be done in absentia. Make sure your divorce papers are clear on property, wills, life insurance, etc. etc...You don't want her coming back two years later and being able to find any loose thread. Good luck.

Yes, you still have to file for divorce.
If you live in TX, you can file as an abandoned spouse after 3 years. Get a book from the library or buy forms online.
Elsewhere, I couldn't tell you...
Good luck....

you can go to a document service and they will make sure all the paperwork is filled out properly for you, serve the other person, and file all court papers and schedule your dates. Its cheaper than a lawyer and you don't have to waste your time down at the court house standing in line.

Why haven't you consulted an attorney already?
Call an attorney immediately. Follow his advice. Stop living in limbo, and get the divorce finalized.
Good luck to you.

You need to file for divorce, have her served, wait for her to "answer" You're STILL married so there is no "was" about it.

it does not matter , you are still legally married, you are not even legally separated, file the paperwork, have her served, this is a must, you need to be legally divorced to protect yourself from her and any financial and legal consequences she can have
