Well by this time you probably have yourself so worked up you EXPECT you will have this problem. OK you may be exercising too soon before bedtime, or eating too much before bedtime. The last hour before time to hit the sheets should be spend on quiet activity. Reading is a good way for allot of people to fall asleep. Taking a bath before bed makes some people feel relaxed.
Most of all try to not worry so much about not falling asleep once you are in bed.
Question? Do you lie in bed asking yourself, how long is it going to take me tonight? If yes then you are MAKING yourself do this.
Solution: After relaxing time (1 hr before bed) Go to bed and close your eyes. Concentrate on your feet, only the feet. Feel how good it feels to rest your feet. Do this up your entire body. It is called guided imagary and by the time you get to your eyes you will be asleep. Try it.

Exercising close to bedtime can make it harder to sleep. There are a lot of other things that could be making it hard for you to fall asleep. I had the same trouble as a teen and still have trouble sometimes. I was disgnosed with ADHD and the medication I take helps a lot. But you you may not need medication or even a visit to the dr for your problem. Do you have a lot on your mind? If so, try keeping a journal by your bed. Write in it every night or just write down your worries. Also, body temperature has a lot to do with sleep. Your temperature has to drop before you can sleep, so try sleeping with a fan or a lighter blanket. Also, lavender is a natural sleep aid. You might try a nightly bubble bath with some lavender bubbles or oils or just a simple lavender lotion or body spray. If these things don't help, then you might want to consider a dr's visit. But do plenty of research about what you are diagnosed with and what medications you are given to be sure you are doing what is best for you. I don't think your period could have anything to do with it, a lot of girls don't start their period until they are 14 or 15.

I have no idea about the hormone issue but my daughter is the same way and she is 8.5
Once I started puberty I have always been tired LOL
I do know that when my daughter gets in good exercise, like when she plays softball she is able to go to sleep and stay asleep. Maybe exercise would help tire your body out. I think she is just the type of person that needs fairly vigorous exercise every day. It has nothing to do with weight etc. just for sleeping purposes, because I am one tired mommy LOL

there's nothing wrong with you. i have the same problem sometimes. and it used to be every night. try finding a natural sleep aid such as honey. there are certain foods that have chemicals that are onverted to tryptophan, the sleep chemical. these might help you fall asleep easier. i know exactly what you're talking about. it's normal. if you still can't fall alseep at night, at least try to take even a short nap after school. it really helps. this is all part of puberty. around this age, you're internal clock swiches to the night life. unfortunate but true.

Could be many things, or a combination of factors. If it continues, tell your mom you would like a consultation with a doctor. There are prescriptions that can aid with sleep, or the doctor can evaluate your physical condition, as far as hormones, and determine what would be best for you. Having been an insomniac for years, I know the feeling, and I think the sooner you find the cause, the better off you will be.

I had trouble sleeping at your age too, mainly because my bedtime was too early for me.
Here are some tips from me:
-Try not to exercise right before bed. If your dance practice is late at night, try to wind down with a bath or reading a book before you go to bed.
- Avoid caffeine after lunchtime. Even chocolate can keep you up late if you eat too much.

Ok, well when you dance, do you dance during the day or at night before your bed time? Because if you dance before sleeping, then your getting so muce excerse before bed, your blood is pumping to your heart and your body dosent want to get its rest. But try warm milk, I used to do it when I was 13, and couldnt seelp. Or you can go to your doctor.

But I guess I was just really excited for school.
So i couldn't sleep.
So is there a big important date coming up i you life.
Cuz that could be why.
Hope I helped.
It also could be your hormones.
It could mean your starting soon.

When I got my period for the first time I stayed up all night, slept about three-five hours and then threw up alllllllll day.
I was nine though....that was years ago...
I have O.C.D and I'm getting these pills...cause my sleeping hours/times change, I think anybody can get them, if you have O.C.D/A.D.H.D/Something like that, that may be why....but it's normal to change the way you sleep.
