I don't think there should be anything bad said about meeting or finding someone online, the bar is OK, but the nightclub is more questionable (a bunch of people dancing around and flirting, some in scantily clad clothing, to loud music).

I met my husband at a bar when I was 19. We've been married 20 years and have 2 beautiful teenagers. Is there something I should be ashamed of?

The only times I associated with girls in nightclubs & bars it was for one purpose only - & that had nothing to do with them becoming my intended spouse!

So therefore the question, as asked, would not be an issue.

Also I'd never try & start an online relationship - not my cup of tea.

I met my husband at a karaoke bar. I don't think there is anything to be embarrassed about, no matter where you met your spouse. That would be like saying you are embarrassed by your spouse. Does it really matter where you met your spouse as long as that person treats you well and loves you, and you them? Where you met your spouse is insignifigant compared to how happy the two of you are.

No, what is there to be embarassed about? We all meet people in different situations and places all the time. What is the difference if it is online or in the local produce section of the supermarket?

Maybe if it was an adult sex site I'd keep it quiet.....otherwise I don't see that there's any need for shame about the circumstances of meeting one's spouse!! And quite frankly, the only people who are likely to concern themselves with the intimate details of other peoples' lives are those with nothing constructive going on in their own life!

I've thought about this alot myself, as I met my "beau" online.. :) LOL.. and to be honest, I am embarrassed to tell people I met him online, because I think in a way, it discredits him in others' eyes.. and I just think he's great... yet, I think it's much better than picking some guy up in a bar - afterall, while seperated by a couple thousand miles - I know at least one thing he isn't after... :) at least not until he comes to town! :) And, I know what's in his heart and mind, not just what is in his pants, if you know what I mean.. :)

Doesn't matter how you met the person that you fell in love with just that you did. The club and the internet beat meeting your spouse in jail or the std clinic - those would truely be questionable.

Why should anyone be embarassed about where they met their spouse? I met mine online on myspace. We have been married 2 years and I have never been happier. And, it makes a good story to tell!

Nope, I met my sweetie online and we tell people all the time. We chatted for months before we met, and then dated for three years before moving in together and we've been together for seven years now. We never exchanged photos, so we learned about each other as people before we ever met in person.
