Here's a short list of the benefits to our economy:

~Thousands of dollars in wedding revenue alone
~Opportunities for new jobs in industries such as those related to weddings
~A state with a high competitive success rate, since Massachusetts is its only competitor.
~Jobs, companies, and employees who are Gay or Lesbian moving to Michigan to get married. Especially those with very high careers and degrees, which brings more companies here looking to hire those people, which creates more jobs in total, and then those people won't move to other states in fear their marriage would be annulled, so if asked to relocate they would instead move other parts of their companies here. Which does nothing but add more positives to our economy.
~This all in turn raises the housing market, more homes being sold, and more homes being asked to be built.
~All these people have demands, which help buisness, which creates jobs.

You may be skeptical the impact would be this huge, but if we are one of....

no thank you.if you insist have your" civil unions" but marriage no!!! the bible states marriage is between a man and a woman-- period no exceptions! no changes! men who ignore the plain word of GOD will deal with the consequences for their knowing disobedience!i live in Michigan and this is not acceptable to me!! your logic means nothing for what does a man profit if he loses his soul? GOD bless you and good luck.

I think you raise excellent points. Perhaps it's time to create an organization to push this goal in Michigan and/or share your ideas with established organizations? It's only a matter of time until gay marriage is legal in all 50 states so the sooner it is legalized in a second state, the better it is for that state.

I personally think that all the religious types are afraid that if gay marriage is legalized, there won't be any heterosexual marriages and then everybody will be gay. They are so ignorant.
