As far as I recall, I haven't seen anything in real life. Most of what I've experienced has been either felt, smelled, or heard during or after an investigation.

One night I smelled what could best be described as spoiled milk or meat. That same night a couple of investigators were heading towards another part of the site, and I told them not to go to that part. I told them I felt something bad over there, but it was hard to pick up any more on it.

Another night I was asleep in the house my grandmother passed away in. I had moved into the house and had been living there for about a month. The bedroom got ice cold, and I had turned the heat up prior, as it was the middle of winter. The room still didn't warm up. I finally just "told" my grandmother to leave me alone, I have to get up to go to work at 4:00 AM (it was about 10:00 PM) and I need my sleep. Sure enough the room warmed back up.

In that same house, I felt her presence on my Birthday. I ran to the store to get some batteries for my camera and digital recorder. I didn't get much as far as pictures are concerned, but I did get some EVPs, mainly two of them wishing me a Happy Birthday. That same night while I was recording, one of the cats that was one of her cats jumped up on a table and began pawing at the recorder. She kept pawing at the built-in microphone part of the recorder in my hand. I believe she may have heard my grandmother speaking into the recorder.

One night while doing an investigation at an old abandoned church and nearby cemetery, I kept hearing voices that did not sound like mine or any of the other investigators. They were indistinguishable so I had asked everyone to be quiet. The voices still continued for another minute until they, too, stopped.

On the investigation where I smelled spoiled milk, I had gotten some EVPs that were rather vulgar. One of the other investigators decided to sing, much to the dismay of the spirits that resided at the site. The EVPs we got told her to shut up, shut the *h* up, and even shut the *f* up. At one time they addressed her by name and told her to shut up. I even recorded a conversation of one spirit asking a female spirit (addressed her as Ms. some last name) if she brought her gun, to which she said she didn't.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the disappointment. Like you, I've seen some startling things, only to find out shortly later they were nothing out of the ordinary. So no, I've not actually seen anything paranormal. Anything seemingly out of the ordinary turned out to be rather ordinary after a little investigation.
