ok maybe not through the night that was a bad choice of words. she wakes up every hour and just wants to be in bed with me and my husband. then she falls asleep and i put her in her cradle. an hour goes by and she realizes shes not with us. i would let her stay in bed with us but my husband is kind of a crazy sleeper.

Just make sure that during the day there's lights and lots of noises, that way when she's more at ease with the quietness of the night, she'll get on a routine of night/day. Give her another 2 weeks or so; my daughter started sleeping through the night at about 4 weeks.

she's hungry that is why she wakes up baby's generally need to be feed every two hours at the start, she will do this for some time yet. I'm sorry but you won't be getting a full nights sleep for some time to come! Take it easy and don't put to much pressure on yourself to do other things they can wait for a while. Try to get some sleep during the day when she does.

It's unreasonable to make a 7 day old sleep through the night. Their tummies are small and need refilling often. Trying to get her to sleep through the night this soon could lead to a failure to thrive.

If you nurse her, try doing breast compressions at the end of the session to get the fatty hind milk into her. I'm not sure what the advice would be if you are formula feeding.

Swaddling might also help.

Could you take a nap with her during the day?

Sorry honey, right now the baby is the boss! Just relax about what needs to get done around the house and nap when the baby does. If you are breastfeeding you will be feeding every hour and half to two hours until baby's tummy starts to get bigger and hold more. Formula you may see 2-3 hours between feeding as it takes longer to digest. However with all the growing and developing that baby needs to do, they need the food frequently. It does get better though, I promise!

Awe what a shame poor baby, at 7days old she needs to be fed every couple of hours. There is no magic to make a baby sleep all night. You should of thought about sleepless nights an being tired through the day like all us other mums before you took the poor we toot into the world.

I'm a mother of three, and my kids were at least 3 months before they slept through the night. Newborns are on their own schedule, not yours, so you will have to get sleep when you can. Remember, Cherish this time with your baby, it goes to fast!

LoL babies eat every two hours you'll starve her if you make her sleep through the night, plus you have to change their diaper... sounds like you weren't prepared for the job. maybe have family step in a help if you're not getting enough rest. also during the day some helpful hints... when she goes down for a nap you could too, or use the time to do chores around the house... babies need a lot of sleep though so she should be taking naps in the day time thus giving you some time to do what you need to... wait til shes older and into everything thats when you'll need help!!!

Newborns do not sleep through the night. You will need to nap when she does until she does sleep through the night.

Newborns are designed to wake at night for nourishment and comfort. Suck it up and deal. Sorry.
