Right click your desktop ,go to Properties. Go to Setting and change your display size. 1280 by 1024 looks good to me. Mess around with it til you find the one you want.

Are you in the Safe mode? If you are it should be possible to just restore your settings and go back to normal use.

But you can also try this. Minimize or close all your applications and place your cursor on the desktop and right click. Then click on "properties" and you should get the display menu. (You can also get this through the control panel.)

Then make sure you have the correct resolution settings and have enabled your active desktop.

Good luck.

Click F11[enlarges a working window]
Click Ctrl F4 [closes a working window]

It could be a virus. Have you used anti-virus software?

Alternate method: Need to have your Windows cd, and reinstall by going into Safe Mode [usually it's F8, but i could be anything between F2 & F12 depending on your BIOS: the black and white screen that pops up after you turn on the computer. You might see some instructions on how to get into Setup or Startup Menu]. After going into Safe Mode, click Start, click Run, then type cmd into the box. After a black command line box with a blinking cursor appears, put in your cd, type in
D:/ [your cd-rom drive letter, colon, forward slash]
press Enter / Return
type dir [to get into the directory of your cd-rom drive]
type setup.exe [ or just type the word: setup, as a shortcut]

You also would need your Microsoft Windows cd-rom's Product Key to reinstall the software.

During installation, Windows will make the cd-rom stop and search from the beginning of the cd by doing many restarts. It is annoying, but let it go.

After reinstalling the software, everything should return to normal, with nothing but the virus gone. While installing Windows will ask you to put in an administrator's password: type it in, if you want. If you don't want one, just leave it blank and click OK.
