I can't find out how to get 4 with using 7 and 5. Thanks for any help

Step 0: Both jugs are empty (or if not, empty them)

Step 1: Fill the seven gallon jug.
[7] [0]

Step 2: Pour 5 gallons into the five gallon jug, this leaves 2 gallons.
[2] [5]

Step 3: Empty the five gallon jug and pour the 2 gallons into it.
[0] [2]

Step 4: Fill the seven gallon jug again.
[7] [2]

Step 5: Pour it into the five gallon jug (3 more will fit) leaving 4 gallons.
[4] [5]

Step 6 (optional): As a last step you can empty the five gallon jug again.

First, you half-fill them both. The 7gallons jug holds 3.5 gallons and the 5 gallons jug holds 2.5 gallons. You pour the contents of the 5-gallon jug to the 7-gallon, which now holds 6 gallons. Then you fill the 5-gallon jug again and pour its contents to the 7-gallon jug untill it is full. You have just emptied one gallon from the 5 gallon jug, which now holds 4 gallons.

Uhhh... if they are empty, fill the 5 gallon up four fifths of the way full. If they are full, dump out one fifth of the 5 gallon one. Only way I can think of.
