Yes
No matter how fool-proof you plan something, most of the
time the results don't turn out the way you planned, or don't
happen at all.
We are all under the impression that we are in control of
our own lives, our own choices & our own destinies, but
we really aren't.
There is a big book out there with all our fates already
written, like a story, intertwining with other peoples lives
as it should.
People we meet are there for either a reason, a season
or a lifetime, but they all play roles no matter how tiny, they
are all significant, maybe not to you, but maybe to them.

Yes everything happens for a reason. In scientific terms cause and effect can be attributed to everything. Philosophically,I believe that the things that don't work out or bad things that happen beyond our control are there for a reason, usually to teach us something. The world has a way of good things evolving from tragedy. Also, sometimes bad things are simply consequences of actions, not fate or destiny.

More than all of that, whatever has happened in your life, it is too early for you too tell whether it happened for a reason or not. Sometimes it takes years to find out. Sad but true.

No, I think things just happen.
There are so many forces at play that make anything happen! Would you blame your fortune, or the wind, if a piece of dust blows in your eye?
When a lot is happening to you, you can feel out of control as if someone or something is making things happen.
Ususally things happen because of choices you made, as in you decided to go outside on a windy day, it was your choice that led you to get a piece of dust in your eye. The wind isn't out to get you and it isn't part of some great scheme.
Same thing for everything that happens to you, it just happens.
Things keep happening to me too, a lot. I even keep making typos and having to backspace while I am typing this, whose fault is that? My keyboard's? I think not. It's just happening, I am making typos.
I know you will feel better when you finally decide that no, there are no outside or secret forces making things happen to you, they just happen.
Slow down, take a deep breath, and reorganize if necessary. Everything will be okay if you make the right choices.

No, I don't. I do think some things may be fated to happen, but most of the time, it's just random happenings. Some are good fortune for you, some are bad fortune.

I mean think about this. Would you apply this concept to someone who is kidnapped, repeatedly raped and brutalized and then killed? Do you think the thousands of young girls who are ganged raped by soldiers in other parts of the world happens for a reason? Yeah, because people are BRUTAL!

Yes, I think everything happens for a reason. You might not know what it is at the time, but I think it makes you a better person in the long run.

Not in the least. In 2003, 25,000 children died of starvation. There is no good reason for this to have happened.

While there are different views on aboriton, millions of lives, or potential lives are ended each and every year. Again, there is no good reason for this to happen.

We can always justify something in the world.

I believe that karma is has a real part to do with your question. If you are a good person then more than likely good things will happen to you and visa versa. Often when a thing happens to us we can trace back its origins to an action that we consciously took earlier in our life.

Definitely! As a matter of fact.Today my doctor told me about a fire that happened to his house, while he was on vacation! I told him everything happens for a reason! I talked him in to finally taken a vacation! So no one was home to get hurt in the fire!

There are various ways in which that claim might be interpreted, depending on how strongly one understands the word "reason," and how strongly one understands the word "everything"!

Personally, I suspect the claim is wrong however interpreted, but in some of those ways it is at least plausible.
