I am named after a hurricane in NY late October 1960. My given name. I have had too many names in this life, it's weird.

no story she just liked the name. although after found out i had a relative with the same name!

Deirdre. It's the name of a tragic Irish princess. Her lover was killed by some king who wanted her to himself. The name means "sorrow". I should add that my mom did the naming - my dad can hardly pronounce it (hah!) - and I don't think she knew the history behind it. They almost called me something hideous like Betsey or some such nonsense. And my middle name is my grandmother's name.

I am not sure where the Lynda came from, I know my dad wanted to call me either Claudia or Della and my mom said no.. I get to name the girl, so she called me Lynda. My middle name is Rae and that was after a cousin of moms.

My parents looked in the Bible 4 a name and found 1 they luved, thats how i got my name

i am not sure about that..but my father once told me, when i was asking the same question, that (my parents are both croatians)
my dad once had a good friend with my name...Bernard...and he always found that name nice...so !
You have to know, that the most croats or croatians have average names and the "same" names like Dragan, Ivo, Branko, Mijo and Goran....there are more common names...and honestly, i couldnt imagine me, with a name like that..i like my name. Its a big "part" of my Person, a mirror to myself..

I believe I got my name cause of Whitney Houston. My mom thought Whitney was a nice name. Thank goodness she choose that instead of the other name she was gonna use.

I was named after my grandmother (on my dad's side) but my friends story is better she was named after a star like one in the sky; Maia.

I was supposed to be named Nicolette but my parents thought Nicole would be easier for people to remember since it's more common...they just thought Nicole was nice. There is no special history behind my name :[

my mom named me something religous that she thought was nice the first name was because it was jesus's mother and the middle name was because i was a grace to her ;) not named after relative or sports etc. ;)
