I need help with a TI-83 Plus. I have this problem where whenever I turn it on, the screen displays really weird lines. I can distinctly see the x and y axes, but anytime I press a number, it just makes more lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sund A: You do realise that a TI-83 Plus is a calculator not a computer and that it can't be infected by windows viruses?

Aside from changing the contrast and trying to push clear or quit (2nd Mode) I'm not sure what else to do. Wiping the calculators memory might be a last resort, if you can't figure out any other way taking out the batteries and then the backup battery (lithium button cell) and then putting them back in might fix it although any games you had on there will be gone (though no more gone than they would be if your calculator got cleared for an exam which I suspect most of them have happen many times).

I don't think it's the contrast, but you can try. Hit 2ND then the Up or Down keys, see if it helps.
Check to make sure you don't have any functions in Y=.
If all else fails, go to 2ND -> = (MEM) -> 7 (RESET) -> ALL -> All Memory -> 2 (Reset). This will reset your entire calculator, deleting all apps, programs, settings, etc. so you may need to connect your calc to your computer and reinstall apps if needed.
If that fails, check the TI website for OS updates. If nothing happens, chances are your calc is broken.
