Okay, well... you know when you get discharge before your period?
You know how it's supposed to be white or clear?
Well, mine is a dark colour - almost black.
What does this mean?
I'm sorry, I know it's really unpleasant - but I'm worried and I really do not want to go to the doctor with this problem incase they make me go through an examination.
Thanks!

I know what my period blood looks like and it's not that - I know this for a fact.
Someone told me it could be Toxic Shock Syndrome... what the hell?!

Does it smell? It is probably just lining, is it thick? You can get a dark disscharge caused by shedding of the lining, very normal! But if it smells... go to the doctor!

My periods typically start out that way. They are spotty discharges of a dark substance. Then after a little while, the actual bleeding starts. I think it's just a way for the body to start a period by sloughing off the top layer of the lining of the uterus. I could be wrong but I've never noticed any adverse health effects and I started having periods some 35 years ago.

That's weird because that happens to me after my period is over. Well for me, it means my discharge has some of excess period blood on it so that's why mines it so dark sometimes. And maybe its the same with you only opposite. You're about to start your period so maybe the blood is coming a little sooner and coming out little by little onto your discharge.

Its probally just dried old blood left in your system. I wouldnt be too worried about it.
And it also might mean that your period is very close. So be ready.
Its not something you should be worried about, but if you still are just go to the doctors just to be safe.
Hope I Helped!
Good Luck

There's nothing to freak out about. It's either that it's old blood or your period will begin. I just got my period a couple of days ago. It was a brownish color but now it's starting to change to my period color. There's no worries. I think it can be either white or brownish-black.

to be honest if you don't want to go to see your GP then go to a well woman clinic (they do these examinations and checks all day every day)
get medical advice and get yourself checked out to be on the safe side.
the examination will be over and done with in minutes... the stress and worry of what it could be will go on and on and make you ill if you don't
the fear of doing something is often worse than facing the thing straight on
good luck

Are you experiencing any severe pain, hardness of your belly? It may be normal for you or it could be something serious. Do not be ashamed of your body at the Doc's office, it could be life and death. Or nothing, hopefully nothing.
See the Docotor, I have never heard of this before today. Best of luck, be strong.

You have to go to the doctor, ask for a lady doctor and be brave-its not as bad as it seems once your in the surgery. all doctors are nice and kind and they have most likely seen it all before a million times
