Yes. Regardless of where you died after the battle the Valkyries will find you and honor your bravery by escourting you into Valhalla. As long as you proved your valor on the battlefield.

that's a good question though. Well, i guess it's either necessary for the warrior to die on the battle field to get into Valhalla but maybe it's not really a requirement. I mean it's the soul of the warrior that is allowed entrance into Valhalla. Maybe those who dies away from the battle field might also be allowed to enter its halls, if they are deemed worthy to enter. However it is mentioned in sources that the Valkyries only go about on the battlefield insearch of dead warrior's souls, so yeah they probably might have missed out on selecting the souls of those who dies away from the field. However it is mentioned on wikipidia that certain souls go to certain places in the Norse pantheon, so these other sould are probably transported to certain place.

One of the halls of Asgard is Valhalla, where the heroes after death comes, attended by the Valkyries.

Valhalla (Old Norse Valhöll, "Hall of the slain") is Odin's hall in Norse mythology, located in Gladsheim and is the home for those slain gloriously in battle (known as Einherjar) who are welcomed by Bragi and escorted to Valhalla by the valkyries. The main gate is called Valgrind, which is described in Grímnismál as a "sacred gate", behind which are the "holy doors" and "there are few who can tell the manner by which it is locked". The hall itself has 540 doors, so wide that 800 warriors could walk next to each other, walls made of spears, a roof made of shields and benches covered with breastplates. It is said that there is room enough for all those chosen. Here, every day, the slain warriors who will assist Odin in Ragnarök, the gods' final conflict with the giants, arm themselves for battle and ride forth by the thousands to engage in mock combat on the plains of Asgard. At night, they return to Valhalla to feast on roasted boar and drink intoxicating mead. Those who do not get to Valhalla end up in the home of the dead (Hel), a place beneath the underworld (Niflheim), or one of various other places. Those who are lost at sea, for example, are taken to Ægir's hall at the bottom of the sea.

In addition to the valkyries and the Einherjar, a rooster named Gullinkambi lives there.

In Beowulf, it is called the shining citadel.

If Odin chooses you, then you go to Valhalla. Just remember Frejya has first choice of the slain, not Odin.

edit: Actually no that is wrong. You do not have the two choices of Vahalla and Hel. That is a CHristian worldview one that we do not share. Our gods have halls, each have thier own. Depending on how you die, etc, decided the hall you go to.Those halls are not to hang out with the God of your choice. You join your ancestors. Read the Voluspo of the Poetic Edda's. It will give you the names of most of the God's halls. Also add that it has been written that some deliberatly wound themselves with a spear on their deathbeed so that Odin takes them.

Yes, more or less. You have to die as the result of a great battle that showed your courage and willingness to die for a great deed. Being carted off the field would be a sign of weakness.

Ah finally a Norse myth question...Well if you were like Aragorn (you know he didn't die on the battlefield but he still whooped butt) of course they would let you in anybody who looked like they could whoop giant butt then they went up into Valhalla.

I sure hope not. Valhalla is the name of a nearby dump-y trailer court ( what a laugh) The police are over there all the time. Our dead heros deserve much more than being forever consigned to some run down beer and pot "haven".
