There are multiple egyption kingdom periods in the history of egypt. The Archaic period ws pre 2700BCE. The Old Kingdom was from 2700-2200 BCE. THe First Intermediate period was from 2150-2000 BCE. The Middle Kingdom 2000-1700 BCE. Second Intermediate 1700-1500 BCE. Finally there was the new Kingdom from1500-1085 BCE

egypt (that's how it's spelled) began as a kingdom? are you really referring to a civilization complete with Pharaoh and large buildings/codes of laws and religion? well, let's see, if that's what you want and today's year is 2007, egypt began it's rise somewhere around 7 to 9000 years ago. the dates of its' inception are rather fuzzy but it's somewhere in that time slot. pyramids are 7k years old (built somewhere 5000 bc) and since educated and knowledgeable people had to be around to build such, you can take it from there. also do not discount the sphinx. the age of that magnificent beast is very questionable but slightly younger than the pyramids.

The Old Kingdom in the times of Cheops was around 4000 BC.....or so.

Most likely since around 4,000 B.C. It developed independently, despite civilization also being present in Mesopotamia at the time.
