Here's the story bought a new NVidia GeForce FX5200 about two months ago and installed it and everything worked great for about a month. Then on Labor Day i got a problem with my PC. Message saying "IRQ L less than or not equal to" After that i re-installed windows and then it was good for about a week. Then after that it stopped working The IRQ L message always popped up. Had to go to get it rapaired. The guy at the computer shop puts in a new motherboard and a new power supply box. He told me not to put the video card because the motherboard will overheat and not work. The video card is in perfect condition and i Don't know whether to listen to him or not or what should i do. I need expert advise.

Technician is right if that is a PCI card but wrong if it is an AGP card. FX5200 is just a 34 watter. It is not really a big load on the motherboard's AGP slot, BUT it is for the PCI slot. PCI slot is designed for 25 watts max only.

You may want to add another fan internally to keep the inside of the case cool. Also, what is the size of your power supply in the PC? I believe the FX5200 has a minimum requirement of a 250watt PS.

The three most common symptoms I've found that cause this error are:

1. System running too hot
( extra fan helps this a lot see below for my cooling solution for my nVidia cooling solution. )

2. Corrupt driver(s)

3. Defective memory chip(s)

I've been running the FX5200 myself with no problems on a P-4 2.8 Ghz system, 350Watt P/S, and 1.5 GB's of memory

it is quite possible you have an IRQ conflict with your videocard. Are you using an AGP or PCI version of the videocard? I had a GeForce FX 5200 before, cant say they are great, lasted about 2 years before it stopped working. But anyway, if the guy at the computer store says dont use the card, then you will have to take his word for it. Most of them should be atleast A+ certified.
