Hi! I've had lower abdominal pain for the past month or two, and in the past couple weeks I started getting a really bad-smelling vaginal discharge. I saw a doctor, had a pelvic exam, and the lab results said that I have Bacterial Vaginosis. I didn't mention the abdominal pain to the doctor, just because I didn't think of it... the smelly discharge was what was really bothering me at the time.

Now I've been reading about Bacterial Vaginosis, and nowhere does it mention abdominal pain as a symptom. Has anyone else had that as a symptom? Or could I possibly have something more serious- like Pelvic Inflammatory Disease? Should I worry, or should I just wait and see if the prescription for the BV makes it go away?

Please help, give advice, or just give encouragement... I need it.

BV can result in lower abdominal pain if it has gone on long enough to result in pelvic inflammatory disease. Suggest you finish the antibiotics, abstaining from sex the entire time, and then see if you still have the abodominal pain. If so, it's time for a trip back to the doctor.

i too have been having similar problems and what i found is that if bacterial vaginosis is uncured for a long period of time it may form into PID ( pelvic inflamitory disease). you should look into it and also always give full information to your doctor. ... im going to my first gyno apt and im terrified....
