I would probably be dead.
Or badly injured and damaged.
Children can't be left to learn the hard way about things that are dangerous.
Maybe that's not what you meant.
Psychological freedom, within basic safetly, sounds good. However, the society we live in (here in the UK and I'm guessing you are in the USA), is very far from free. Therefore a time must come when the free child meets the barriers, rules, barbed wire fences and jackboots of their society. How much better it would be to introduce this shock slowly and gently through loving and proportional parental discipline.
Suppose I wanted to piss in the street? Should I be allowed?
To be practical there is no alternative to regulation of the child. Not in this world, anyway.

With freedom comes responsibility. When adults act irresponsibly by harming others, they lose their freedom. Kids don't necessarily know any better by themselves, that's why it's up to the parents to instill their children with maturity and responsibility.
Personally I think way too many parents nowadays are more interested in being their kids' "friend" than being their guardian and teacher of life. As a result I'm seeing a lot more spoiled brats nowadays.
Every kid demands more freedom at some point, it's a normal part of growing up and establishing themselves as independent individuals. And certainly, there are some parents who are too strict, and this can be just as harmful as being too lax. Parents should allow their kids more freedoms when those kids can demonstrate that they are mature and responsible enough to handle it and not do something stupid or impulsive.
I think letting a kid do whatever they want, without consequence, is stupid to the point of child abuse.

IMO there is a thing as too much freedom, if you're parents give u free reign growing up, you're gonna grow up too fast or fall down the wrong path. This will make for a turbulent ride and as you get older and start to learn the difference between right and wrong then you'll realise that with some guidance and restraint you might not have been as wild as you were and hold a grudge against your folks. However parents that are too strict are gonna drive kids away too - there's a fine line and you just need to find a healthy balance

I'd regret it now. If I had been given such total freedom, I'd have been increasngly demanding, worse than the divas we see behaving as spolt brats. I'd have been impossible to live with, and it would all have been a cry for real attention. Luckily, I got the attention, but also learned that life and society have limits, and I am quite content with the portion that is my share.

I believe it depends upon the culture in which you are raised.
In our modern cultures too much freedom would seem to translate to lack of interest on the parents part.
In more aboriginal cultures, more freedom was not only lessons to the child but a display of faith in the higher power.

I think I would blame them, but it depends on what risks I could have taken. My parents experience and their love and caring all make them worry about me and that's why they didn't give me the whole freedom
Giving me the whole freedom "might" add more experience to my life, but might also put me in troubles I never had to get involved in.

You may thank them until you realized the the world is not free for one to do as they want without consequences. Then that child may damn their parents all to pieces, as they realized how mean, hateful and unforgiving people are of selfishness, and arrogance that most would be a rude awaken as adulthood came upon them..........called the real world out there..

I did do pretty much as I wanted, besides school, though I had to do it quietly because of family problems. This has led to me being comfortable with silence, and to knowing what to do that doesn't call for noise. Cool! (I'd thank them, and I got it done in time)

I WOULD REGRET THE ABSOLUTE FREEDOM GIVEN ME. IT IS IN MY OPINION ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO INSTILL DISCIPLINE IN A CHILD AT AN EARLY AGE. TO FAIL TO DO SO IS AKIN TO COMMITTING A CRIME AGAINST THAT CHILD. HE/SHE WILL HAVE NO ETHICS, NO MORAL VALUES AND BELIEVE THAT THE UNIVERSE WAS CREATED FOR HIS/HER PLEASURE AND BENEFIT AND THAT OTHER PEOPLE AS A PART OF THE UNIVERSE ARE FOR HIS PLEASURE AND AMUSEMENT AND WHEN THE DAY OF RECKONING COMES IT WILL BE ONE UNHAPPY AND ANGRY CHILD.

Obviously regret it.
If you allow your child everything, the child would simply become spoily and would never appreciate what he has.
