1) Make 2 parenthesis, put one x on each side, find the square root of 49(its 7) and put a seven in each parenthesis, have - on one side and + on the other side..
answer:(x+7)(x-7)

2)x^2-9x+14
?+?= -9 ? x ?=14
You have to pick 2 numbers that apply to both.....
-7 + -2=-9 -7 x -2= 14
Now make 2 sets of parenthesis and split the x's on both sides then just plug in the 2 numbers you found.......
(x - 7)(x - 2)

What I did in number 2 will apply to 4 and 5 as well. Not positive on how to do number three, I don't want to give you the wrong answer, sorry.
Hope that helps and I didn't confuse you more! Good luck with the rest :)

There isn't much work to show because they all fit in basic forms.

x^2 - 49
(x+7)(x-7)
Do you realize 49 is 7^2? Then do you see, this fits in the form of x^2 - y^2 = (x+y)(x-y)?

x^2 - y^2
(x+y)(x-y)
Plase see above

x^2 - 9x +14
(x-7)(x-2)
You are trying to find two numbers when multiplied together becomes 14 and added together becomes -9. You just have to get enough experience to see what works.

I won't do the rest beause they work the same way.

x^2 - 49 = (x-7)(x+7)

Anytime you hav to factor x^2-n^2 the solution is (x-n)(x+n)

x^2 - 9x +14
Factors or 14 are 7 and 2
We need a negative term for the x, so lets try
(x-7)(x-2)
Yup.. that works

x^2 - y^2
As we said above, x^2 - n^2 is (x-n)(x+n) so here the answer is
(x-y)(x+y)

x^2 - 17x - 60
60 has many factors;

2 30
3 20
4 15
5 12
6 10

We know we need one term negative, and one positive (since it's -60) and we need the sum of them to be -17
Looks like we need -20 and +3
so
(x-20)(x+3)

x^2 + 14x + 49
Factors of 49 are 7 and 7 :)
and 7 + 7 is 14 so....
(x+7)(x+7)

1.x^2-49
=x^2-7^2
=(x+7)(x-7).ANS.
2.x^2-17x-60
=(x-20)(x+3).ANS.
3.x^2+14x+49
=x^2+7^2+2*7*x
=(x+7)^2 ANS

1)x^2-49
=x^2-(7)^2
=(x-7)(x+7) using a^2-b^2=(a-b)(a+b) ans
2)x^2-9x+14
Here you have to find 2 no's whose sum=9 & whose product =1 x 14=14
=x^2-2x-7x+14
=x(x-2)-7(x-2)
=(x-2)(x-7) ans
3) is same like 1)
4) is like 2nd
x^2+3x-20x-60
= x(x+3)-20(x+3)
=(x+3)(x-20) ans
5) x^2+14x+49
=x^2+7x+7x+49
=x(x+7)+7(x+7)
=(x+7)(x+7)=(x+7)^2 ans

(x-7)(x+7) difference of two squares!!
(x-7)(x-2) simple factorising
(x-y)(x+y)
(x+3)(x-20)
(x+7)^2 = (x+7)(x+7)
