How Do You Handle Condescending People?

Do you call them out, challenge their attitude?
Or do you match them?
Why is it important to you (or is it) that you stand up to condescending or dismissive attitudes?

This is a very good question! My answer would depend on a couple of factors:

1. How important is the point I have to get across?
2. Would this person be intelligent enough or willing to admit the validity of a contrary view?

Sometimes I feel that I would look just as bad for challenging. If it were something fairly trivial, I'd probably let it go. If it were something I had strong beliefs about, I'd have to call them out. It's important to stand up to these attitudes because people will never change for the better unless they are forced to examine how there attitudes impact others.

I'm past caring if someone is condescending toward me at work, which is the only place I get that attitude. When it's a patient, I can get them over it by giving them lots of attention and remembering who they are each time they come in. After a few visits, I'm their best friend.
There IS one well-known local columnist I haven't been able to break down. I'm working on him. Little incidental challenges of life are fun.

I'll try to call them out on it, but without being too aggressive about it. It is definitely important to stand up to a jerk, and not let them get away with being condescending.

If someone attempts to be condescending towards me or in a conversation, if feel it makes them look like an idiot without me having to do anything. I choose to ignore the bad behaviour and respond to the good. You cant be reasonable with an unreasonable person.

i'm undecided what you propose by skill of condescending, i know that Jesus replaced into lively he replaced into additionally very humble and washed the ft of his disciples and whilst human beings made enjoyable of him through fact the King of Jews, He forgave them. As for myself many I actual have chanced on interior the previous that i replaced into pre judging them, through fact of something i assumed I heard or observed. well, i will usually call them out online. that's if they are being extremely rude and i'm offended. if not, i leave it alone. in real life, i avoid them. why? because i hate being around them and there's no way that i'm going to win. they will make up whatever B.S. to prove their point. i don't care for that.

depends on my mood; if I am having a bad day I will tell them off but if I am relaxed I will just ignore it and be like whatever your prob not mine.
