In a way......
The conditions needed to create animal life, let alone a sophisticated, intellectual human-type species is a universal anomaly and even if it did occur on another planet it would have little chance of survivability long enough to evolve to where we are now.
However, in the remote chance that there were to be contact with an extraterrestrial of our sophistication or higher it would no doubt be us and from the future. Our own species (higherly evolved) far in the future may be able to create or open an existing "worm hole" to visit us in the past from either Earth or from another planet we may have populated by then.. So I believe we may be able to visit ourselves by going back in time someday, but do not believe another sophisticated, intellectual being coexists in our time.
Plant life may exist right now under the right conditions on other planets. But animal life was such a fluke to even start on our planet and survive the millenium in the first plance that I find it doubtful it exists anywhere else right now.

i honestly don't believe in aliens,
or at least not the kind of aliens presented in movies and on tv,
but,
